Play simple has been a theme of the Charlotte Hornets summer league team when it comes to running there offense and an emphasis for players when making plays. James Borrego breifly explains the play simple concept in his summer league interview here. This is a philosophy that Borrego is taking with him from his time with the Spurs. There is a high emphasis on playing off of the catch and reading the defense on or before the catch with there .5 concept. Players have half a second to make a decision to shoot, drive or pass. Spurs assistant Ettore Messina explains .5 in greater depth here. A great quote from the article is when Hornets assistant, Jay Hernandez says, "We keep talking about being great at basic." I love that saying and something I will use with my players. FULL ARTICLE HERE Related Videos .5 Drill Ball Movement

I may not be a huge fan of basketball, but I know that Charlotte Hornets has to be one of the best teams we have right now. They may not be as popular as other national teams, but I know that they are fighting and they believe that they will always win the game they'll be joining in. By the way, their game strategy for this year is "play simple". I love coaches who do not pout too much pressure on their players just because it's not healthy. They do know their limitations when it comes to motivating their games.
